The BBC has announced its intention to bring BBC News in the UK and World News together into a single TV channel called BBC News. 2 This is expected to happen in April 2023 and will broadcast around the world – from London during UK daytime hours, then Singapore and Washington DC.

Its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee which is charged to all British households, companies, and organisations using any type of equipment to receive or record live television broadcasts or to use the BBC's streaming service, iPlayer.

BBC News (known as BBC World News until 2023) is an international English-language pay television channel owned by BBC Global News Ltd. — a subsidiary of BBC Studios—and operated by the BBC News division of the BBC.
